Broderick Stephen Harvey, Sr. (born January 17, 1957) is an American television host, actor, writer, producer, and comedian. He hosts The Steve Harvey Morning Show, Family Feud, Celebrity Family Feud, the Miss Universe competition, Family Feud Africa, and arbitration-based court comedy, Judge Steve Harvey.

How Steve And Marjorie First Met

Their story reportedly begins back in 1990. At the time, Steve was doing stand-up shows at a comedy club in Memphis, Tennessee. One night, Marjorie came to watch Steve perform. As the couple later revealed on his now-canceled NBC talk show though, Marjorie showed up late to his performance. When she was making her way to her seat in the front row, Steve stopped the show and just stared at Marjorie. Marjorie, apparently, thought that Steve was going to “give her the business” on why she was so late, but he stood there silently. He then said to the crowd, “I’m sorry, I don’t know who this is, but I’m going to marry her.”

Harvey was born on January 17, 1957, in Welch, West Virginia, and is the son of Jesse Harvey, a coal miner, and Eloise Vera. His first name is Broderick, named after actor Broderick Crawford of the TV series Highway Patrol.  Harvey had a severe stuttering problem as a child, which he eventually overcame. Harvey's family moved to Cleveland, Ohio, living on East 112th Street, which was renamed Steve Harvey Way in 2015. He graduated from Glenville High School in 1974.
